John Lennon & Paul McCartney

Stopped off in Liverpool on the way home from Wales…a quick pit stop outside the childhood homes of two of Liverpools’ most famous sons – John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Sobering to read the dates on the blue plaque on the home of John Lennon (1940 – 1980) and think about the tragic end that would befall the young man who would have spent many happy times in this house…

28th July – 3rd August 2012

A few days away discovering North Wales (walking boots at the ready due to heavy rain for the most part!)…spent an interesting afternoon at Portmeirion – a village built by Sir Clough William Ellis, supposedly based on Portofino in Italy, and best known as the location for the British TV drama ‘The Prisoner’ starring Patrick McGoohan. Strangely it does seem very Mediterranean in feel and slightly surreal considering it’s in Wales!…

Wells, Somerset

In Wells, Somerset, as summer finally arrives in the UK… following the Swan trail (individual hand painted swans dotted around the town – to commemorated the Jubillee year and raise money for local charities)… Clotted cream tea overlooking the Cathedral green – the diet starts here! xx

Levon Minassian

Lying in bed listening to one of my favourite musicians – Levon Minassian, a French born Armenian Doudouk (duduk) player. I first came across his music when he collaborated with Peter Gabriel a few years back and have loved his music and the incredibly moving sound of the doudouk ever since. This is one of my favourite tracks from the album ‘Songs from a World Apart’… perfect to listen to in a quiet moment or as I am, in bed in the dark! xx

Cafe Grande, Edinburgh

At Cafe Grande in Edinburgh… came to see a guitarist I used to work with play here tonight. Unfortunately there was no sign of him when I turned up – I later found out from his gigging partner that he had been taken ill and was in hospital!
Nice to meet you Kenny – enjoyed the gig. Get well soon Rab!

Recording at Edinburgh

In Edinburgh at the studio working with Stuart and Gordon for a couple of days…good to be back with the guys again – always fun!
Recorded a couple of tracks I’d written with Stuart, who added some clarinet and whistle parts in there – a talented guy!
