Julienne Taylor’s enchanting and captivating voice raised comparisons with both Norah Jones and Eva Cassidy, but Julienne has her own unique and distinctive style influenced from her Scottish ancestry.

The musical journey of Julienne Taylor has been a long and winding road. Having played in various bands in her High School years and studied dance and expressive mime in Edinburgh with Kinny Gardner (Lindsay Kemp Company), Julienne was convinced by musician friends who had previously made the transition, that a move to London was the only way to seriously pursue a career in music. So at 17 years old she did just that.

'Home', somewhat strangely, for the first few months of her arrival in the capital was living out of a suitcase in student nurse accommodation in Guys Hospital, being signed in as a guest by nursing staff friends and 'changing' her name every other day to avoid detection.

A flat in an insalubrious part of S. E. London, which she shared with former band members from Scotland was to become a more permanent base with Julienne working by day and writing songs by night - soon discovering that success does not come suddenly. A spell of homelessness on London's streets was only to compound this further.

Subsequent years saw Julienne working at Shepperton Film Studios learning the craft of sound engineering whilst regularly singing six nights a week with blues and soul bands and lending her voice as a backing vocalist for established acts. Later, a serious car crash would lead Julienne to pursue a studio engineering career whilst still persevering with her own musical ambitions

In 2001, whilst working with an Edinburgh based independent label, and following a series of successful live performances at the Edinburgh Festival, Julienne was signed to Virgin Records. A delay in the release of her first album however, meant the momentum was lost and in a world of priorities, the album and Julienne slowly became misplaced in the shuffle.

Since 2010 Julienne has been happily signed to Hong Kong based record label 'Evolution'.

On a personal note, Julienne was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in November 2015. A full thyroidectomy followed in December, and she was given the "all clear" in January 2016.

A Time For Love

A Time For Love (2009)

A Time For Love, a collection of original songs and new interpretations of love songs with a Celtic influence, has been accumulating impressive sales throughout S. E. Asia in 2009. The release of the album A Time For Love in Asia proved to be a turning point in Julienne’s career. Following the success of this album Julienne signed a long-term recording and managing agreement with Evolution Music Group.

Under invitation of the new label, Julienne Taylor performed for the folk legend John Ford Coley (of the England Dan & John Ford Coley) in his concert "Remember The Songs, Cherish The Memories Concert" on June 19th at the Shouson Theatre in Hong Kong Arts Centre.

Julienne promptly returned afterwards to the Edinburgh studio with her songwriting partners and producers Gordon Campbell and Stuart Wood to recording her debut album under the evosound label.

The Heart Within (2011)

The Heart Within

The resulting album The Heart Within features originals including Can't Let Go, We Go Round and Forever Our Love alongside her interpretations of some of the classic songs such as Guitar Man, You Are Not Alone of Michael Jackson and Savage Garden’s I Knew I Loved You.

The Heart Within album reached No. 8 on the Hong Kong HMV international music chart and the single I Knew I Love You peaked at No. 1 on the Hong Kong International airplay chart.

Julienne Taylor & The Celtic Connection - The Heart Within Tour (2011)

Julienne’s debut headline concert took place on September 24th at the Lyric Theater in the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, featuring her backing band from Scotland The Celtic Connection. During the night, Julienne Taylor & The Celtic Connection performed iconic renditions of I Don't Wanna Talk About It, Hard To Say I'm Sorry and traditional Celtic tracks such as Loch Lomond / Caledoenia and Celtic Mantra.

The concert was filmed for release in late 2012 in multiple formats, the first high-resolution concert film of Julienne Taylor ever released.

Voices Of Love (2012)

Julienne Taylor became one of the signature vocals in Evosound's Audiophile Female Vocal series Voices Of Love with her recording of I Knew I Loved You.

An Intimate Evening with Judy Collins & Julienne Taylor (2013)

One year later, Julienne Taylor returned to Hong Kong and was honored to share stage with legendary folk songstress Judy Collins on Sep 3rd, at the Y-Theatre in Hong Kong. The concert was a wonderful synthesis of two romantic female vocals, performing timeless classics such as Both Sides Now, Send In The Clowns, Diamonds And Rust with a mix of Scottish flavor including I Knew I Loved You, Your Song, All Out of Love and Celtic Mantra.

Voices Of Love 2 & A Time For Love (Vinyl) (2014)

In March 2014, Julienne Taylor was again featured in Evosound Audiophile Female Vocal series Voices Of Love 2 with her song Hard To Say I'm Sorry. Later in the year, Julienne Taylor's bestselling album "A Time For Love" was repressed on 180G double vinyls in limited 1,000-copy edition in December, 2014.
